The Lorain County Urban League will be hosting a discussion forum on Lorain County and Northeast Ohio’s economy and how to close the “Economic Gap” on Friday, June 23 at 9am at the Hotel at Oberlin.
Many community leaders in Lorain County had the opportunity to attend the Lorain County Chamber Economic Summit earlier in May of this year. At that time, we learned how Pittsburgh, a steel city, fell on hard times and was on the decline. However, Pittsburgh leveraged its regional strengths in education, healthcare, and innovation and is now one of America’s quintessential rust-belt cities. After hearing that inspirational message, many in the audience were ready to take action locally.
As a follow up to the Economic Summit, we invite you to join us for an informational and interactive discussion on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the Hotel at Oberlin as we explore potential solutions for Lorain County’s economy. This forum is for business and community leaders, HR Departments, Purchasing Departments, Financial Advisors, Lenders, Real Estate Agents, government officials, and employers. We will learn about the Economic Growth in Lorain County and Northeast Ohio and the increasing disconnect with people seeking financial empowerment opportunities. Full breakfast will be provided. Additional sponsorship opportunities for this forum is available. Individual registration is $25 through Eventbrite at: 440economy.eventbrite.com.
In addition, the forum will be followed up the next day Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10 to 2 pm with our Financial Empowerment Fair. The purpose of this fair is to directly connect with people with opportunities for employment, small business contracts and loans, Home purchase loans, foreclosure prevention assistance, and other financial empowerment opportunities. Vendor booth space is $250. Thanks to the sponsorship and partners of the Friday forum along with paid vendors, this event is free and open to the general public. Attendees of the Financial Empowerment Fair, that are seeking assistance, will have an opportunity to win door prizes when they pre-registered for this FREE event at: 440iamempowered.eventbrite.com.
